US Aggregates Rockstar: Nathan Swafford

Wednesday, October 25th, 2023

With only six months under his belt, Monon Equipment Operator and Laborer Nathan Swafford, has earned the recognition of his plant managers. Prior to joining US Aggregates, Nathan worked in a landfill and then transitioned to a steel mill. After working there for a while, he decided it was time for a change. “I thought working at a quarry would be an interesting thing to try,” Nathan said. “The opportunity presented itself here, so I took it and ran.”

With no prior experience in the mining industry, Nathan has taken these last few months to learn everything he can. “It’s definitely a little bit different than what I’m used to, but I think I’ve made the best out of it,” Nathan said. “I try to do the best for my team and do what I can where I can to make the best result.”

Bob Schmidt, Assistant Plant Manager for Francesville and Monon locations, sees potential in Nathan and is impressed by his drive and commitment to the team. “He has the signs of being a potential leader one day,” Bob said. “I can see him eventually becoming a lead, trainer, or a developer.”

While Nathan is honored to be spotlighted so early on in his career, he says he is not the only one who deserves a spotlight. “Truthfully, if everyone could get one here at the same time, I think they all deserve it,” Nathan said. “We all put in a lot of work and a lot of hours.”

During his time off, Nathan enjoys riding dirt bikes and practicing shooting.

Thank you Nathan for all that you do at US Agg!
