Peyton Kistler has always been fascinated by the large piles of material and the larger than life equipment he saw at his dads work at US Aggregates Columbus. Seymour High School set aside a day for the seniors of the class of 2021 to take the opportunity to job shadow or go on a college visit. Peyton knew exactly where we wanted to job shadow.

He asked his dad, Tim Kistler, if it would be possible to job shadow at US Aggregates Columbus. After following protocol, Plant Manager Steve Kistler (also Peyton’s uncle) informed Peyton that he would be able to job shadow with Tim Kistler in the QC department.

Peyton was able to experience pulling a sample from the pile, splitting a sample, running a sample and the input of the sample into our Stonemont application. Peyton was excited to see the behind the scenes of the place that has fascinated him since he was young boy. Peyton said he loved seeing all the aspects of the QC job. He especially liked seeing the mixture of materials to produce certain products.

He didn’t realize all the science that goes into stone products. He loved his experience at the US Aggregates Columbus plant and the people he was able to meet on his visit. Peyton plans on attending IUPUC in Columbus in the fall and plans to major in Biology. He plans to use this knowledge in the medical field upon graduation.
