About This Location

The Swisher Sand and Gravel operation in Tippecanoe County began production in the mid-1990s as a gravel pit serving the Lafayette/West Lafayette area. The location partners closely with its community, working alongside the Department of Natural Resources to build a 100+-acre lake within the adjacent Prophetstown State Park. Over the years, the West Lafayette operation has worked not only with Prophetstown State Park but also with many other businesses and groups within the Lafayette/West Lafayette community. It provides local outreach to organizations like Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and local elementary schools, and partners with the Museum at Prophetstown Farm.

What does it mean to be a Safety Champion?

The Safety Champion is at the heart of our vibrant safety culture. Passionate about safety, the Safety Champion actively promotes programs and activities to increase safety awareness and to nurture behaviors that help us all look out for each other's safety. Each operation designates a key person to serve this crucial role.

Being part of something that makes a difference in everyone's life is important to me. I was involved in an accident resulting in death when I was in my 20's. Safety is big on my mind always now at work and at home.
